Alexey Rubin (conductor)

Born in Leningrad in 1987, Alexey Rubin is a distinguished conductor who graduated from the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory in choral and symphonic conducting. A laureate of multiple national competitions, he has worked with renowned orchestras and participated in masterclasses with legendary conductors like Yuri Simonov and Riccardo Muti.

Rubin has held prestigious positions, including Assistant Conductor of the Moscow Philharmonic and, since 2022, Conductor of the Novaiya Rossiya State Symphony Orchestra.

In 2023, he received a Presidential Honorary Certificate for his contributions to Russian culture and accompanied the Finals of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition.

Appointed Chief Conductor of the Chelyabinsk State Symphony Orchestra in 2024, Rubin continues the orchestra’s tradition of excellence.

The Chelyabinsk State Symphony Orchestra

Founded in 2019 with support from Denis Matsuev, it is a leading ensemble in Southern Ural. It has performed at top venues, collaborating with renowned soloists and conductors.

The orchestra is a regular participant in major festivals, including “Denis Matsuev Presents” and the Yury Bashmet Festival, and has toured internationally.

In 2022, the Chelyabinsk State Symphony Orchestra received the 440 Hertz Orchestral Prize for its “Prokofiev” programme.
