the curtain falls on another magnificent season, Dubai Opera celebrates an
exceptional year, marked by unprecedented achievements and stellar
performances. The 2023-2024 season witnessed a record-breaking attendance of
over 250,000 guests, surpassing all previous years since the venue's
inception in 2016. This milestone cements Dubai Opera's status as a premier
cultural institution in the Middle East.
Highlights of the Season
The past season was brimming with diverse and captivating performances, with over 100 productions and 200 performances, showcasing a wide array of genres including opera, ballet, symphonic, musicals, and concerts. Among the many highlights were:
· UAE Premieres: The Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala, MusicAeterna Orchestra, and Rome Opera Ballet made their UAE debuts, earning global acclaim. The return of the timeless musical 'The Phantom of the Opera' was a historic event, with an Arab lead performing the Phantom role for the first time, drawing over 30,000 attendees. Additionally, the beloved musical 'Matilda' made its UAE debut, enchanting audiences of all ages.
· Innovative Initiatives: The introduction of Film Music Week celebrated the magic of film music, while the Dubai Opera Edition Piano by Steinway & Sons, a prestigious limited-edition piano honoring the seven emirates, was unveiled.
· Technological Upgrades: The Dubai Opera Studio saw a significant upgrade to a state-of-the-art d&b sound system, ensuring exceptional sound quality for every performance.
· New Partnerships: A strategic partnership with Audi was established, aimed at enriching the cultural landscape of the country.
