Dubai Opera and Steinway & Sons launch the Dubai Opera Edition piano collection. This limited edition is the 4th collection of the precious Steinway Concert Hall Series which was launched in 2018 to honour major concert halls in a very special way. It serves not only as an homage to Dubai Opera but also to the 7 emirates that constitute the United Arab Emirates. The iconic Arabesque pattern of Dubai Opera is applied on the inner lid. The music desk represents the traditional shape of dhow sailing vessels, whereas the legs and the prop stick with their organic shape are inspired by the whirling sand dunes of Dubai.
Guido Zimmermann, President Steinway & Sons Europe, says: “We are very proud of our relationship with Dubai Opera and have created an exceptionally designed instrument to honour this institution. We look forward to our partnership becoming ever closer, spreading the joy for music for all.”
Paolo Petrocelli, Head of Dubai Opera added, "The unveiling of the Dubai Opera Edition by Steinway & Sons presents a symphony of innovation and artistic expression. The design intricacies, inspired by the essence of Dubai, unfold a narrative that goes beyond musical notes. It's a testament to the transformative power of music, echoing the sentiments of our diverse community.”
The Dubai Opera Edition was officially unveiled on 11 January 2024 on the occasion of a public concert by Khatia Buniatishvili. She was the first to grace the keys of that masterpiece.
In the grand scheme, the unveiling of the Dubai Opera Edition by Steinway & Sons symbolizes a harmonious fusion of art, culture, and craftsmanship. This milestone aptly encapsulates the spirit of innovation and tradition that Dubai is renowned for. As we look towards the future, we are filled with anticipation for the symphonies that will resonate from this masterpiece, enriching our world with its unique harmonies.
